Quest for Real Life Success
NFL safety Will Allen was inspired to positively impact the community in which he lives, works, and plays. In the spring of 2006, while playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Allen developed “Quest for Real Life Success.” Quest is a four year program designed to prepare high school students for life after graduation.
The core program of the Will Allen Foundation, Quest, currently operates at North Hills High School, Perry High School, Clayton Academy and Holy Family Academy at the Energy Innovation Center all in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The program has also operated at Wayne High School in Huber Heights, OH. In Fall 2017, the Foundation will implement the program at two or more Pittsburgh Public High Schools and area High Schools.
The program objectives include preparing students academically for college and job/career opportunities, while helping develop character and integrity. Quest is structured to address key areas of a high school student’s real life development including, but not limited to:
– Professional Development
– Health & Fitness
– Strategic Planning
– Financial Advancement
– Community Service
The Quest program strives to provide the very best resources and tools for the students. As a part of the program the students visit and explore science and technology labs, health science and research facilities, cultural art centers and financial institutions. The exploration assists the students in making well in formed college and professional career choices.
Quest also fosters partnerships with local businessmen and women, as well as key local organizations to share their areas of expertise with the students in the program. It is our hope and expectation that our students will improve in all aspects of their lives by utilizing the skills learned through program participation. Ultimately, it is our goal that Quest will not only lead to classroom success, evidenced by improved grades and test scores but also grreater personal and professional maturation. We are dedicated in building each student into productive leaders of tomorrow.
“Quest helped me plan things out better and made me into a well-rounded person. We have learned so much more than what we would in our regular classes. Classes in high school don’t teach you the information you need to know once you graduate.”
“Quest has taught me what I need to step into the future. It has helped us learn to tackle the daunting tasks no one had ever prepared us for – How do you lead a healthy lifestyle? How do I prepare for an interview What is a credit score? Quest has given me an advantage in preparing for the world to come that I wish all students could have.”
